Our story

From one pumping station to 220+ projects.

Lenium was born in 2015 from the vision of Esteve Lafita Ferré and Hicham Elbokhari, two entrepreneurs with deep experience in international cooperation and industrial project development. From the start, the company has focused on initiatives capable of generating real impact in territories with high growth potential.

Our first project was the design and financing of a water pumping system with solar trackers, installed in North Africa. More than a decade later it is still running, supplying water to the gardens of a university campus without any fossil fuels.

Over time, Lenium has consolidated its presence in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, where quality industrial projects deliver an especially high social return. That focus has allowed us to build a diverse portfolio combining advanced engineering, high-performance machinery, and decarbonisation solutions applied to industrial and productive environments.

Today, the teams that make up Lenium have delivered more than 220 industrial projects across several continents, positioning the company as a complete EPC+F platform. With operations in Barcelona, Tangier, and Ames (Iowa), we serve clients in Europe, MENA, Africa, and the Americas, connecting engineering, machinery, technology, financing, and decarbonisation solutions to drive high-value industrial projects.

R&D · Since 2025

Energy-independent greenhouses

Since 2025 we have been developing self-sufficient greenhouses together with the Eurecat technology centre, the Open University of Catalonia, and the Institute of Agrifood Research and Technology, with funding from the Catalan government's innovation agency. Semi-transparent solar panels on the roof generate electricity while still letting enough light through for the crops to grow underneath, and the irrigation system pulls its water straight out of the humidity in the air.

The result is a greenhouse that runs completely off-grid, with no external power or water supply. It is being tested on a 250 m² site at the research centre in Cabrils, near Barcelona, and our San Diego team is now studying how the same systems could also capture and store carbon dioxide.

R&D · Spain–Morocco

Lenium SolarWater

A joint Spanish and Moroccan research project, funded through a bilateral innovation programme run by Spain's national technology agency and Morocco's solar energy research institute. At the Green Energy Park in Benguerir, we are building a fully solar-powered system that produces clean water by condensing the humidity in the air, mounted on trackers that follow the sun through the day.

We hold several patents in solar tracker technology, and this research feeds directly back into the projects we design, build, and finance for clients.
